Counseling Services

People seek out counseling for a variety of reasons, looking for a wide range of outcomes. I am here to create space to be with your emotions, navigate the hard phases of life, and work on exploring your own self to live in alignment with your wants and values.

GRIEF COUNSELING

WEEKLY SESSIONS - ONGOING

Clients typically find me when they have experienced a loss. Often, “loss” refers to the death of someone close to you, but loss is also experienced during and after divorce, career changes, and natural disasters, among many other life transitions. Grief can bring up a myriad of other things to work on in the counseling space, such as: attachment styles, family dynamics, emotional regulation, along with questions of identity and meaning.

GRIEF SPARES NO ONE

ALL ARE WELCOME

Heart Spark Counseling proudly serves all communities and all walks of life. I do not discriminate and recognize the vast cultural differences and contexts for experiencing and understanding grief. Our offices are LGBTQIA-friendly and ability-informed. Please reach out and ask if you are looking for specific accommodations.

Welcome!

My name is Cat Kitson, I specialize in grief and bereavement counseling. I serve clients from all over Colorado virtually, I also have an office in Longmont Colorado for clients who would like in-person sessions.

I’m Cat Kitson, LPC-C

SHE/HER

I graduated from Regis University in Denver, Colorado with a masters in counseling. I previously worked in the hospice community, providing bereavement counseling to family members and caregivers of people who had died in hospice. I found a passion for grief work, and while grief and bereavement is my niche, I have also worked with clients who struggled with a myriad of mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, bipolar, PTSD, trauma, and dissociative issues. I care about my clients, and I care about the community that we all share.

How It Works

INITIAL CONSULTATION

Please reach out for a free, 15-minute consultation call. We can discuss your hopes for therapy, my rates and availability, and explore expectations to see if we are a good fit.

01

GOAL SETTING

Goals in therapy can vary widely and often evolve throughout the therapeutic process, but they serve as a landmark for both me and my clients to see if we are progressing in a way that continues to serve my client’s needs.

02

DOING THE WORK

There is no timeline for therapy, and certainly not when it comes to grief and bereavement. Therapy can be a continual process, and there are always new tools to learn and personality facets to explore. I am here to support you in every phase, and to let you know you do not have to carry the emotional burden alone.
